WeaveGrid is partnering with Xcel Energy to provide data services for ChargePoint customers participating in EV programs. These FAQs aim to address common questions about the transition in data services vendors.
What is changing with my Xcel Energy EV program?
Starting November 7th and continuing through November 30th, Xcel Energy is transitioning the EV Charging Data Services from ChargePoint to WeaveGrid for the following programs:
- Colorado Optimize Your Charge
- New Mexico Optimize Your Charge
- Colorado EV Accelerate At Home
This transition to WeaveGrid allows us to provide you with the same great program benefits, alongside new features to see your charging data analytics.
Will my program benefits change?
No. All your current program benefits remain exactly the same:
- Your program benefits remain identical
- Your charging rewards and incentives continue unchanged
- Your ChargePoint settings, preset schedules, and account access to your ChargePoint charger and app will remain in place
How can I create a WeaveGrid account?
Creating an account is easy! Check your email inbox (including spam folders) for an email from xcelenergy-support@weavegrid.com, which contains personalized instructions to create your WeaveGrid account.
You may be required to log in to your ChargePoint account to authenticate your connection to WeaveGrid’s platform. Follow the instructions provided in the email to connect your account.

I received an email asking me to connect my device. Why?
Some customers may need to complete a device connection process to ensure continued program access. This may apply to customers whose ChargePoint devices are not connected to the ChargePoint dashboard, meaning that your charging data is not being reported to Xcel Energy.
Connecting a device is simple! We have provided instructions in the email from xcelenergy-support@weavegrid.com. If you have any questions during the connection process, please email us at xcelenergy-support@weavegrid.com and we’ll be happy to assist.
What if I don't want to set up a WeaveGrid account?
For already connected ChargePoint customers that had a WeaveGrid account created on their behalf, by WeaveGrid, you do not have to access your WeaveGrid account to continue to receive the benefits of the program. You can always access your account later if you change your mind.
For customers that received a “Disconnected Driver” email notice requiring action to set up a WeaveGrid account, this must be completed to remain eligible for program incentives. Customers that remain as “disconnected” and who do not create a WeaveGrid account will not be eligible for the annual participation incentive.
What happens to my ChargePoint account and app?
Your ChargePoint account, app access, and device settings remain completely unchanged. You'll continue using the ChargePoint app exactly as you do today, with all your preset schedules and preferences intact.
Will my charging data be affected?
No. Your historical charging data remains accessible through your existing ChargePoint account and you will also be able to view your charging data through your WeaveGrid account along with additional charging insights.
Program-Specific Questions
Can I upgrade to other Xcel Energy programs?
Yes! This transition actually makes it easier to access additional Xcel Energy programs like Charging Perks! If you’re interested in upgrading to Charging Perks, please let us know at xcelenergy-support@weavegrid.com.
I'm in Optimize Your Charge (OYC). What changes for me?
Nothing changes in your day-to-day experience. WeaveGrid will handle the data processing that enables your OYC benefits, but your charging schedule, annual rewards, and ChargePoint app experience remain identical. For program-related questions, please reach out to Xcel Energy at ElectricVehicles@xcelenergy.com.
I'm in EV Accelerate at Home (EVAAH). How does this affect my charger rental through Xcel Energy?
Your charger rental terms, maintenance, and billing remain unchanged. Xcel Energy continues to own and service your charger. WeaveGrid simply provides the data services that enable your program participation. For program-related questions, please reach out to Xcel Energy at ElectricVehicles@xcelenergy.com.
What if I'm in multiple programs?
The transition covers all your Xcel Energy EV programs simultaneously. All programs continue with their existing benefits and terms.
Privacy and Data Security
If you have questions about the data that is collected by WeaveGrid, please review our Privacy Policy and consult our FAQ article How does WeaveGrid collect, use, and protect driver data? for more information on the data we collect.
The data WeaveGrid receives from ChargePoint customers is identical to what ChargePoint was already collecting and sharing with Xcel. Specifically:
- We only receive charging data from the ChargePoint station itself
- Location data is constrained to the home charging location (as set in the ChargePoint app)
- ChargePoint has a dependency requiring location to be enabled in their app
- We do not receive driving data or location information when the vehicle is away from home
Can I opt out of data sharing with Xcel Energy through WeaveGrid?
Yes. You can opt out at any time, however, customers who do not create a WeaveGrid account will not be eligible for the annual participation incentive. Opting out of data sharing for EV Accelerate at Home customers may conflict with the terms of service of your charger rental from Xcel Energy.
